“The beginning of our Journey”
This particular piece of Aboriginal Artwork has been titled by the artist, Kahli Luttrell; Yorta Yorta descendent of Northern Country Victoria and has been developed by the Victorian Palliative Care Program for use in Victorian Aboriginal Palliative Care.

Target audience:

The focus of this education is to enhance the capacity of the health workforce to provide quality, holistic and culturally-responsive palliative care for First Nations peoples and their families affected by life-limiting illness.

Workshop Outline

Workshop sessions aim to develop knowing, being and doing outcomes across the following topics:

  1. 1. The palliative care journey
  2. 2. Yarning about palliative care, end-of-life care and people’s choices
  3. 3. Loss, grief and healing
  4. 4. Looking after yourself

Facilitator:

Nicole Cassar: Business and Cultural Consultant. Nicole is a Gunditjmara, Wotjobaluk and Maltese woman from Victoria

Cost: Free (morning tea and lunch provided)

Observational placements are available for doctors, nurses, allied health and Aboriginal health professionals who are employed in health fields (e.g. hospitals, community, residential aged care facilities, general practice).
