Travel instructions

We encourage you to move to zero emissions where possible and dive into a carpool, bring your friends along! You can easily walk, cycle, catch the bus rideshare or drive to this location: Lakeside path: Access to the Museum Wharf via road and paved pedestrian path remains unchanged after a fence was erected on the lakeside path. Bus: Transport Canberra bus route 53 services the Museum on weekdays, weekends and public holidays. The bus stop is on Lennox Crossing, about 200 metres from our entrance. Walk or cycle: Shared paths from the city and by Lake Burley Griffin. Bike parking is in the Christina and Trevor Kennedy Garden and near the lakeside entry of NMA. Taxi or ride share: Pick-up is at the taxi zone sign under the loop, near our main entrance. WHAT PARKING IS AVAILABLE? Parking can be found at the entrance to the National Museum of Australia, Lawson Crescent. Accessible parking near the Viewing Deck is TBC - please contact us to check on parking, as we are coordinating this with NMA.

Entry instructions

Starting location: National Museum Wharf, Lawson Crescent. You will be guided onto the boat for a journey across Lake Burley Griffin. Boarding the boat with two steps down into the boat, handrail accessible. Exiting the boat with two steps up onto the wharf, handrail accessible.

After entry instructions

After entering the boat, you will be guided to a seat for a 30 min enclosed boat ride.

Hazards

This experience involves walking on different surfaces, up and down inclines, steps and embarking/disembarking a small boat via a ramp with a handrail. What to expect: The tour is a 4 hour experience with lots of variety, including moments for sitting, watching, walking/rolling, resting and eating. Our Guide and her Assistant will walk at a slow/moderate pace and be sure to give extra information or options for the journey along the way. The order of the adventure is: - Meeting at the departure location at Lawson Crescent viewing platform, parking is accessible within 20m. - Boarding the boat with two steps down into the boat, handrail accessible - Boat journey seated and enclosed (chairs provided), 25min - Disembarking the boat with two steps up out of the boat, handrail accessible - Walking on flat or slight incline grass and pavement surfaces, 10min - Standing/meandering to view performance, 8min - Walking outdoors to National Portrait Gallery up slight incline, 10min - Watching performance seated (chairs provided) in undercover forecourt, 8 min - Walking through gallery exhibition indoors, single level tiled floor, 25 min - Walking to The Jetty outdoors (lunch venue), 15 min - Boarding the boat with two steps down into the boat, handrail accessible - Boat journey seated and enclosed (chairs provided), 20min - Disembarking the boat with two steps up out of the boat, handrail accessible - Walking on flat path surface to the National Museum, 15min - Watching performance outdoors, standing (or seated as required) 15min - Tour end/explore the Great Southern Land exhibition in your own time Please contact us to discuss your needs, we will do our very best to enable everyone to enjoy the experience! secretary@australiandance.party

Toilet location

Please note that access to toilets is limited to the NMA before beginning the experience (20min return trip from the meeting point) and there are no toilets on the boat. Appropriate places for loo breaks will be at the NMA or NPG or at The Jetty. Accessible toilets and parent rooms are located at the NMA and NPG, which are part of our journey.
