Curating photos for media literacy workshop
Event description
Do you have a child aged 6-10years? We would love to hear from them!
We are running workshops at QUT’s Children’s Technology Centre to help your child to learn about algorithms. The aim of the workshop is to help children understand how algorithms work by using photography and curation (organising and selecting) techniques. The children will use polaroid cameras to take photographs of items during the workshop. They will then use their photographs to create mini galleries. The aim of the is to draw connections between arranging and curating photographs, and how algorithms connect information about us.
During the workshop your child will be invited to answer questions about their photos and their mini-galleries. They may also be invited to demonstrate how they arranged their photographs and what information they are trying to communicate with their mini-galleries. Your child may also be asked to participate in a short interview at the end of the workshop.
As this is a research project, please make sure you read the Participant Information Sheet. You will be asked to sign a consent form on the day. Parents and carers must remain in the CTC for the duration of the workshop.
Please note: The three workshops are the same so please attend only 1 workshop on your preferred day.
