Curator Talk | Gahee Park: 16th Gwangju Biennale

The Institute of Modern Art welcomes a talk by visiting Curator Gahee Park.

As a curator of the 16th Gwangju Biennale, Park will speak to the exhibition with focus on participating Australian artists, Jean Barth and Angela Goh. Titled You Must Change Your Life the Biennale brings together artists whose practices engage personal and collective histories as sites of transformation.

Across her curatorial, research, and educational practice, Park is interested in how exhibitions and programmes can become infrastructures for sustaining artistic practices, learning, and relationships beyond their immediate duration.

Gahee Park is a curator based in Seoul. She is currently a curator of the 16th Gwangju Biennale, You Must Change Your Life (2026). She previously worked as Curator and Lead Curator for International Relations at the Seoul Museum of Art (2020–2025, 2013–2017), served as Guest Curator of the 2018 Busan Biennale, Divided We Stand, and was a Curatorial Research Fellow at de Appel (2019). Her recent curatorial projects include Sung Hwan Kim’s solo exhibition Ua a‘o ‘ia ‘o ia e ia (2024–2025), The Part in the Story Where Our Accumulated Dust Becomes a Mountain (2023–2024), and Scoring the Words (2022).
