Event description

Join our Early Career Curators, Andrea Grljusic and Malvika Satelkar, for walkthroughs of the exhibitions COLLECT & COLLECT: Focus to discover unique insights into the works of over 100 local artists and what it takes to pull together our annual fundraiser. Designed to connect art lovers of all ages, the walkthroughs will delve into the thematic threads woven throughout the exhibition. An interactive discussion on visual art extending to explorations of sound and visual media, these sessions provide a deeper understanding of contemporary art’s evolving landscape.

WHEN: Sundays, 15 June and 6 July 2025, from 11am

COLLECT is The Lock-Up’s annual fundraising exhibition, proudly showcasing over a hundred artists from Muloobinba/ Newcastle and the Hunter, alongside our broader artistic program. With 40% of all sales supporting The Lock-Up’s artistic program and operational costs, and the remaining 60% returned to the artist, funds generated will contribute much-needed funding towards supporting artists and the future of contemporary art here at The Lock-Up. Each year, COLLECT is curated by an Early Career Curator, selected from The Lock-Up’s volunteer program. COLLECT 2025 is curated by Andrea Grljusic.

COLLECT: Focus returns this year, showcasing bodies of work from two local early-career artists, Megan Farquhar and Katie Ellen Wilkins. Focus is designed to promote the next generation of regionally based practitioners and promote multidisciplinary arts as collectable. COLLECT: Focus 2025 is curated by Early Career Curator Malvika Satelkar.
