Cutting Edge : Exploring the Fabric of Science and Artisanal Design

Fashion and science come together in this special presentation part of World Science Festival 2025. 

Explore the powerful connection between fashion and science in a conversation around boundary-pushing project Cutting Edge by Fashion Queensland and the University of Queensland’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB).

Cutting Edge engaged five Queensland fashion designers to create works inspired by the latest in scientific research at the IMB at UQ.

Kiara and Bianca Bulley [Bulley Bulley] celebrate life on a micro scale, reflecting the groundbreaking Soils for Science project for their stunning design.

Joash Teo [Joteo] translated funnel-web spider venom research into a design capturing its scientific potential and its beauty, as did Joshua Djordjewitsch [Djordjewitsch].

George Wu brought the microscopic world to life through intricate embroidery, while Briana Enoch [Jarawee] infused her design with her cultural heritage, drawing from plant medicine research.
