Two-Day Cyanotype workshop: from introductory to advanced.
In this hands-on workshop you will create your own unique photographic prints on cotton and paper without a camera – using plants, found objects, and sunlight, and you will gain skills to continue experimenting with this captivating art form at home.
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this workshop is perfect for you. Immerse yourself in the creative process as Renata guides you through the entire process, from preparing the materials to developing your very own unique cyanotype prints.
Learn and experiment in a relaxed atmosphere and a small group of participants.

Sunday 18 May, 10am – 1pm
What’s included:
In this workshop you will:
- Learn some history of the process, coating, developing and fixing techniques
- Create your own unique cyanotype prints on cotton and paper.
- Explore research links and resources.
- Coat your own paper and calico bag
- experiment with wet-on-wet process, bleaching and toning;
- get feedback on your work;
- explore further possibilities of the cyanotype process
Materials:
All materials provided: cyanotype supplies, solution, paper, calico bags, found objects.
What to bring:
- Bring your own small objects for a personal touch.
- Examples: 2D or 3D (slim or flat) item (such as a piece of lace, plant cutting, seeds, a piece of jewellery) to use in your composition and add your personal touch.
- An apron (please wear old clothing, it might get stained).
- Covered, non-slip footwear.
- A hat / an umbrella, sunscreen, a water bottle

Dr Renata Buziak is a biochrome photo-media artist, researcher, and educator with over 15 years of teaching experience. Renata regularly facilitates cyanotype and other workshops at schools, galleriesand other venues, for children and adults.
With a focus on plant life and helping people to reconnect with nature, Renata developed a unique experimental process of image making she calls the biochrome. He art has been exhibited nationally and internationally, received several awards, and is held in public and private collections.

Renata holds a PhD from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, and currently lectures at JMC Academy in Brisbane.
