This event will be a showcase of collaboration opportunities with an Interactive Panel of expert speakers across Cyber Security and Critical technologies domains across Australian and Indian Ecosystems with Startup Showcase of shortlisted companies in this area.
Background:
Australia-India's relationship in cyber and critical technology cooperation has been given significant focus following the recent visit to India by Foreign Minister Payne and Defence Minister Dutton.
Australia-India 2+2 Meeting
The Ministers met with their counterparts recently, Ministers Jaishankar and Singh, to hold a historic first 2+2 meeting of Foreign and Defence Ministers. The full joint statement is available here but this is the extract on technology cooperation:
23. Recognizing cooperation on cyber security, innovation, digital economy, cyber and critical technologies as an essential pillar of the India-Australia relationship, Ministers reiterated the importance of working together in these areas, as identified by the Framework Arrangement on Cyber and Cyber-Enabled Critical Technology Cooperation between India and Australia. They underscored the importance of cyberspace that is open, secure, free, accessible, and stable, adheres with international law, and maximizes opportunities for economic growth. They emphasized the role secure, resilient, and trusted technology plays in enhancing national security, driving economic growth, and fostering international security and stability. They welcomed the fourth Australia-India Cyber Policy Dialogue, held on 6 July 2021, and the inaugural Joint Working Group on Cyber Security Cooperation held on 10 June 2021, as well as the recent interaction between Secretaries responsible for telecommunications from both countries. The Ministers agreed to continue to work closely with each other and extend mutual cooperation in the upcoming multilateral meetings related to cyberspace and cybercrime, as well as discuss the security of telecommunications networks including 5G. They looked forward to the convening of the India-Australia Foreign Ministers Cyber Framework Dialogue at an early date.
