D&D Night November
Event description
Calling all parties! Our DnD night is back again!
What's the night about?
Our DnD event is a night of beginner-friendly table-top role-playing game with a simplified set of rules (friendly to newcomers or veteran players alike!). You'll design a character for play in our custom scenario and get you started on your adventures!
How does the night work?
Players book their spot at the event. You can book as a group to play together, or as a solo traveller. Cost is $39 per person, and includes entry, meal and game. Maximum 8 people per table.
Timeline of the evening:
5:00pm+: Market stalls available for browsing
6:30pm: Meal is served (vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available- please specify)
7:30pm: Game Commences
What game do we play on the night?
Although we love the full game of Dungeons and Dragons, it has a bit of a learning curve and can take a few hours to get the hang of. We play a related game designed by DnD experts to capture all of the fantasy tabletop role-play fun called Batlas. It has many of the same principles as Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, but with a simple set of rules that get the game off the ground nice and quick. It’s perfect for the shorter sessions we play here at Bernie’s Bar.
I currently play DnD! Can I bring my character in to play?
Our game system works with many existing character/class archetypes. You are welcome to bring an idea for a character with you on the night, but part of the session involves taking your character idea and building a basic character sheet on the night, so no need to bring your existing character sheet.Example: if you play a level 7 Oathbreaker Paladin called Sam, you could build a rebellious fighter character called Sam in the Batlas system, whose backstory brings elements of the Oathbreaker in as flavour, rather than stat score and abilities.
Do I need to bring dice, minis, or other DnD-related props?
You are most welcome to bring a set of dice or a miniature/figurine that fits your character (or purchase at the markets when you arrive!) - but beware: the tavern can be a rowdy place! Please don’t bring anything that is fragile or precious to you, accidents can happen. We encourage (and reward!) getting into the spirit of things with some fantasy or DnD-related garb, so by all means dress up for the occasion! We will supply everything you need to play the game, including dice, maps and character sheets.
