Event description

Excelsia University College presents Dags, written by Debra Oswald, directed by Kylie Bonaccorso, and performed by second- and third-year Bachelor of Dramatic Art students.

Break out the scrunchies, shoulder pads, and mixtapes — Dags is taking you back to the totally awkward, totally rad 1980s! Meet Gillian, a self-confessed dag, who suffers from the occasional 'ack-attack', is just trying to survive the trials of teenage life: schoolyard politics, unrequited crushes, and the daily drama of being different.

With big hair and even bigger dreams, Gillian’s journey through the highs and humiliations of adolescence is both hilarious and heartfelt. This nostalgic coming-of-age comedy captures the cringe and charm of growing up in a world of Walkmans, first kisses, and figuring out who you really are.

Uniquely grounded in Australian culture, Dags blends local slang, humour, and suburban sensibilities to paint an authentic portrait of Aussie teen life in the '80s.

It's a feel-good flashback that proves everyone has their daggy days — and that’s what makes us shine.

Content Warnings: Coarse language, Mild strobe lighting, References to sexuality, Loud noises

Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.30pm evening show, and at 1.45pm for a 2pm matinee show.
