Daisy Chains: The roots of Dramatherapy in Sensory and Dramatic Play

'We don't do drama at our clinic, we do enactment!'

This presentation and workshop will focus on the emergent 'drama self' of the growing child - when do we think the drama actually starts?  There is usually a rather vague assumption that it develops round about seven years old.  So maybe younger children should have play therapy!

We shall discover that it all begins during pregnancy and continues from birth onwards; the first year being crucial for establishing 'let's pretend'. Having established the inherent messy play within the drama, and dramatic play as a means of structuring the drama, we will discover that play therapy training needs more drama, and dramatherapy training needs more play!

We shall recall that although theatre was central to civilisation for a period of Greek culture, in England actors were classed alongside tramps and vagabonds!

The practical workshop explores our personal 'drama self' which includes our response to mess and form, and to chaos and order.  This will give us the courage to feel more confident in our drama identity!

There will be time for questions and discussion and there are take-away skills we can apply in our work-place

BADth CPD Cancellation & Refund Policy

1. Booking Fees To ensure 100% of your ticket price supports our professional CPD programmes, a small booking fee is added at the checkout. Please note that this fee is non-refundable as it is a direct charitable contribution processed at the time of purchase.

2. Cancellations (14+ Days Notice) If you cancel your registration 14 days or more before the event date, you will receive a 100% refund of the ticket price (excluding the booking fee).

3. Cancellations (Less than 14 Days Notice) If you cancel within 14 days of the event, no monetary refunds will be issued. However, you have two flexible options:

• Transfer to a Colleague: You may transfer your ticket to another person at no extra cost.

• Credit for Future CPD: You may transfer your booking to another BADth CPD session of equal value (to be used within 6 months).

Important: To take advantage of a transfer or credit, you must contact BADth at amind@badth.org.uk at least 7 days before the event.

4. Late Cancellations (Less than 7 Days Notice) Due to fixed costs related to speaker fees and administration, any cancellations or transfer requests made less than 7 days before the event will not be eligible for a refund, credit, or transfer.

5. Event Cancellation by BADth If BADth cancels an event (e.g., due to low enrolment or speaker illness), delegates will receive a 100% refund of the ticket price (excluding the booking fee).
