Dan Cully & Kate Mahood play East Hall
Event description
Blending folk stylings and country storytelling, Kate Mahood's songs portray an honesty and vulnerability that resonate deeply with her listeners. Heartfelt and often haunting lyrics coupled with stirring vocals and beautifully crafted acoustic guitar melodies, give Mahood a unique and original sound that is truly her own. Mahood’s much anticipated debut EP ‘Once You Were A Mountain’ was released in 2024 after five successful singles, most notably ‘Changeling’ a lush alt-country ballad based on the true story of a young woman from Ireland. Mahood is currently based in the coastal town of Yeppoon, with a new EP on the horizon for 2025.
Dan Cully is a national touring artist based in Melbourne, who draws on inspiration from the natural world, watching how life and nature move in an interconnected way. Themes of vast landscapes and fresh mountain streams inform the creation process of this music. Incorporating harmonica, didgeridoo, stomp box, guitar and soaring vocal melodies, his solo performances hold the power of a full band with a sound that has been likened to artists such as John Butler and Xavier Rudd. With an EP and a string of singles under his belt, Dan is busy working on a new album for 2025.
Fresh off the back of Mahood’s new single ‘Like the Eagle’ and Cully’s ‘Giddy Up' these two have teamed up to bring you the ‘Be Right Here’ east coast tour, performing at East Hall in Rockhampton on the 30th of March. Prepare to be transported through storytelling and songs interwoven with themes of nature, connection and the intricacies of the human experience. A night not to miss!
