Come & Try Dance!

Term 3, 2025: 5 workshops

Come and try different dance styles before the SA State Dance Team October auditions for the 2026 National Games! More details about auditions will be released soon.

Venue: All Abilities Cheer and Dance in Royal Park SA 5014

Times: 10:00am - 11:00am

Sessions:

  • Saturday August 2nd - Hip Hop 

  • Saturday August 9th - Lyrical/Contemporary 

  • Saturday August 23rd - Jazz

  • Saturday September 6th - Pom

  • Saturday September 13th - Ballroom

Cost: $10 per workshop 

Workshops Include:

  • Warmup - Gentle movements before dancing to prepare the body, improve flexibility, and prevent injury.

  • Skills and technique - The basic movements and body control dancers learn to perform steps correctly, improve strength, balance, coordination, and style. 

  • Combinations -  A series of dance steps put together to form a short routine, helping dancers practice memory, timing, and transitions.

Dance Style Descriptions:

  • Hip Hop: A unique, upbeat, and exciting style of dance that combines a variety of freestyle movements. The laid back yet hard-hitting style allows dancers to let loose and express themselves through their movements and music.

  • Jazz: A combination of techniques from classical and modern dance, jazz is performed to upbeat and high energy music. Jazz dance shows emphasis on the importance of energy, style and technique, whilst also allowing students to develop creativity and imagination.

  • Lyrical/Contemporary: A free and expressive style that blends elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. It focuses on natural movement, creativity, and telling a story through motion. This style encourages dancers to explore emotions and push boundaries. It’s versatile, dynamic, and perfect for expressing yourself through dance. 

  • Pom: A style of jazz dance using pom poms that focuses on strong arm movements. This energetic and dynamic style of dance places emphasis on precise and synchronised arm movements, formations, jumps, and skills.

  • Ballroom: partner dancing featuring smooth, flowing movements and synchronised steps.
