    Event description

All welcome to attend this gathering at Conjola to enjoy the Dance of the Ancestral Grandparents ‘Grandmother Moon’ and ‘Grandfather Sun’. Their sky dancing across the calendar year teaches us to be present, humble, inspired and grateful. To hold, to release, to come together, and retreat for quiet time. Their sky dancing encourages us to gargangu-ran milumba binin.gala (hold hands with our inner light) as we connect with Country.

The evening will include listening to Country, an offering of ochre, possum heartbeat drumming, and the sharing of stories and poems. Honouring Grandmother Moon for all she illuminates and her tidal rhythms and seasonal journeys. Led by Guringai Yuin possum cloak maker and storyteller Amanda Jane Reynolds – we will be treated with the sharing of poems by some talented family and friends.

Please note. Our possum heartbeat drumming is our Aboriginal women’s business and women drum (gently and humbly) to give and offer connection while men receive the sound by listening and/or by wearing a possum wristband. Together we all reflect on our Mother’s heartbeat and her gift of connection to Mother Earth. All are welcome.

    Optional extra:
Should you wish to purchase an ochred possum wrist band or your own handheld possum drum, these should be pre-purchased with the ticket. They will be pre-made through healing ceremonial processes especially for the evening.
