No previous dance experience needed – just an open mind!

Movement is a key component of Montessori theory and is a key component of many aspects of the Montessori approach for children of all age-levels from birth to 18.

In this interactive workshop, Kei offers educators the knowledge, skills and inspiration needed to confidently embed a key component of movement, in the form of creative dance, into a Montessori learning environments for children of all ages (birth to 18). Whilst focused on Montessori environments, this workshop will also support the integration of dance into any learning environment with children.

The approach to dance presented in this workshop aligns with:

Montessori principles;
the NESA Creative Arts K-6 Dance curriculum; and
the Australian National Curriculum's approach to dance.

Educators will leave this workshop with:

Knowledge, skills and confidence to seamlessly incorporate dance into their school or centre learning experience for children from birth to 18;
Creative dance activities that can be implemented straight away;
A printed handbook covering activities.

Through this workshop educators will learn about dance as an art form and discover how dance can be a medium through which concepts from other discipline areas can be explored.

Once educators know the building blocks such as the elements of dance and compositional tools, you will feel empowered to guide the children to explore and generate their own movement sequences in response to improvisation based activities.

You will leave the workshop ready to embed dance into the life of the classroom!

Safe dance practices
Grace and courtesy, freedom and responsibility in relation to the practice of dance

* There is an optional online follow-up session on Saturday, 24 June from 10am-11am (AEST) for attendees who have questions after presenting the content in their classrooms. There will be no additional content.
