Darebin Creek Bundoora Park George Cct Community Planting Day
Event description
Hosted by Darebin Creek Management Committee, OzFish & Friends of Darebin Creek
Come along for a rewarding day outdoors—plant native seedlings to help restore wildlife habitat along the beautiful Darebin Creek in Bundoora Park, learn about 'fish motels' supporting aquatic life, and try your hand at drawing native plants!
We’ll be planting a mix of shrubs, sedges, and rushes between George Circuit and Darebin Creek (NW of Bundoora Park Dam), helping to strengthen the habitat corridor and create vital stepping stones for local wildlife. This work supports small native animals like the Eastern Spinebill, Spotted Pardalote, Rakali, Growling Grass Frogs and Sugar Gliders.
Curious about 'fish motels'? Join OzFish to discover their purpose and learn how to build one - soon to be placed in the Darebin Creek to support important in-stream habitat!
Then join Craig from Draw Plants Together for a FREE, relaxing plant drawing workshop after the planting. Get to know the unique plants of the Darebin Creek and learn more about the natural environment through observation and drawing. You might like to bring some lunch and a picnic rug or chair if you stay for this session.
