Data visualisation is an essential tool to communicate your research findings.

In this workshop, we cover the basic purposes and principles of data visualisation, followed by a split demonstration session where participants choose PowerBI or Tableau.

This online workshop will show you how to:

• Stay focused on purpose and audience when creating data visualisations.

• Select visualisations that best reflect your research findings.

• Color-code, style, format, and enhance your visualisations.

• Create basic visualisations in Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau

Please select PowerBI or Tableau when registering. The session will breakout at 3pm into these groups. 

To download Tableau Academic
Select either Tableau for Students or Tableau for Teachers (Tableau for Teachers offers more functionality but you need to do more work to get the software, including writing an email to Tableau)

Fill out the documentation and download Tableau and install it to your computer (You may need to download a trial version whilst they confirm your candidacy for the one year free version of Tableau Academic)

To download Power BI desktop
Go to the Microsoft Store for Power BI

Sign in using your UTS username and password

Once signed in go to settings > Download> Download Power BI desktop

This session is intended for UTS staff and postgraduate researchers only.
