Event description

Let's all jump onto the same page when it comes to dating, relationships and consent.
Mojo Mingle has invited special guest Jacob, an expert in the field of consent, to share his knowledge with us.

During this event you will learn how to:

✅. Recognise coercion so you can avoid losing control
✅. Clearly define consent and how to communicate this
✅. Spot orange flags in the online dating world

Control to Coerce

Discussion how that 98% of rapes reported do not use violence, rather, they use an understanding of their victim’s vulnerabilities to exploit them. An offender will use guilt, shame and isolation to generate a victim to be compelled and dominated over.

Consent: The Big Picture

Discussion that consent is more than Yes or No - it is a story that has a narrative. And to obtain consent is a build up of trust that leads into a dynamic intimacy that needs to be better understood.

Online Dating: the story of Jane in Tarzan’s Jungle
Discussion of online dating is very much on a man’s terms. That online dating is overwhelmingly a headache for women and an opportunity for men. That it is a free environment and it’s not the red flags that need identifying, but rather the orange ones.

GUEST EXPERT: Detective Senior Constable

Jacob has been a Detective for Police for over a decade. Initially working in busy suburban Metropolitan areas, Jacob learned quickly the fundamental components that build a domestic violence dynamic and how control can be used by a perpetrator.

This foundation generated Jacob to champion vulnerable persons who have been exposed to sexual and violent exploitation. This included working within Sexual Offending Squads and most recently as a Domestic Violence Specialist Detective.

His investigations have included stalking, rape, tech abuse, negligent manslaughter and unorthodox abuse methodologies. Jacob's focus is victim centric believing that education and understanding is the best means of exposing abusers and their methods.
