DAY OF THE DEAD ALTAR EXHIBITION 2026

💛 Help keep Día de Muertos alive in Auckland This year, we unfortunately did not receive Local Board funding for our event. The decision on our Devonport-Takapuna Local Grant application (LG2702-160) was communicated on 22 September 2026. Despite this setback, I chose not to cancel: this celebration means so much to our small Mexican community and the wider circle of friends, families and colleagues who love Mexican culture. Last year, more than 1,000 people joined us in just four hours! My goal is to keep entry FREE so everyone can enjoy this special tradition. Although we are grateful for Creative New Zealand’s support and our vendors’ contributions, there are still costs I am covering personally. If you can, please consider a voluntary donation towards decorations, printing, design app subscriptions, the time and work involved in building our Día de Muertos sets, solar lights and fuel. Donations are collected under Latinkiwi and paid into my account as the event organiser, to help cover these event costs. Any amount is appreciated and helps make this community celebration possible. Every contribution helps keep this celebration free for everyone. A donation of NZ$5, NZ$10 or NZ$20—or any amount you feel comfortable giving—will help cover the remaining event costs.
