Join us for a colourful weekend of Mexican culture, live music, dance, art, food and community as we celebrate Día de los Muertos - Day of the Dead!

A celebration of life, memory and the people we love, Day of the Dead is one of Mexico's most beautiful cultural traditions.

At the heart of the festival is our Community Ofrenda – a traditional Mexican altar honouring loved ones who have passed. Everyone is welcome to visit, reflect and contribute a photo or small offering.

An afternoon and evening of live entertainment, cultural performances and family activities!

🥁 LIVE MUSIC & STREET PARADE: 🎸 Latin American Folk Music 🎶 Zambezi Sounds 🥁 Raio de Sol

💃 MÉXICO LINDO DANCE GROUP: Experience traditional Mexican dance and culture, including a colourful street procession alongside Raio de Sol.

💀 LA CATRINA & COSTUME COMPETITION : Meet La Catrina, the iconic figure of Día de los Muertos, in a theatrical performance celebrating Mexican tradition. Dress up, get creative and join our Day of the Dead costume competition!

🌺 COMMUNITY OFRENDA : Visit our traditional altar, learn about its significance and bring a photo or offering to remember someone special.

🎨 KIDS & FAMILY ACTIVITIES : Sugar skull painting, arts and crafts, face painting and creative activities for the whole family.

🌮 MEXICAN FOOD & MARKET STALLS : Enjoy delicious Mexican food and explore stalls featuring handmade crafts, jewellery and more.

🎭 FAMILY & COMMUNITY DAY

A more relaxed day of art, film, storytelling and family activities.

🎭 SHADOW PUPPETRY: Discover the magic of Mexican-inspired shadow puppetry, with multiple performances throughout the day.

🎬 COCO – FILM SCREENING: Enjoy Disney Pixar's Coco, a beautiful story about family, music, memory and the traditions of Día de los Muertos.

🛍️ MARKET STALLS: handmade crafts and enjoy the atmosphere of Poppyfield Commons.

🌺 COMMUNITY OFRENDA: The altar remains open for visitors to reflect, remember and celebrate loved ones.

Our Canberra Day of the Dead celebrations have been bringing people together for over a decade. In 2026, we're excited to create a new community tradition in the heart of Dickson, welcoming people of all cultures and backgrounds to experience this beautiful Mexican celebration.
