Protecting Data Sovereignty: Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 Panel
Description
Aboriginal data sovereignty is a right. The oldest living cultures on earth, ancient knowledges, lore, stories and arts are all Aboriginal data. Aboriginal communities have protected them since the Dreaming began.
Shared access to data enables Aboriginal communities to set priorities, monitor implementation efforts to close the gap, and drive their own development.
DCJ is hosting an online panel you won’t want to miss—join us for an engaging discussion diving deep into Indigenous Data Sovereignty and Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4: Shared access to data and information. We’ve brought together a panel of experts across Government and Community organisations to explore how government is collecting, using and sharing data, and the importance of access to data for Aboriginal communities.
Featuring:
Maelona Stephens, Principal Implementation Officer for Closing the Gap Priority Reform Four and the Ngaramanala Aboriginal Knowledge Program at DCJ
Ian Brown, Community Data Manager from Just Reinvest NSW
Gemma Tierney, Principal Policy & Reform Manager for Closing the Gap Priority Reform 4 from the Department of Customer Service
Moderator Christian Tisdell, Manager for Child Protection and Permanency, Disability Inclusion and Transforming Aboriginal Outcomes Communications.
