Event description

Join WMRC and Rebecca Rickard of Deadly Denim in this 3-hour workshop to customize your own denim jacket!

Upcycle your old or op-shopped denim jacket, customizing it with amazing First Nations prints. Learn to design, cut and sew new deadly panels on your jacket, choosing from a wide range of fabric designs from Remote Aboriginal art centres. Open to participants of all abilities including beginners.

This workshop provides almost everything you'll need including sewing machines, fabric, and equipment. It does not provide denim jackets, so remember to BYO jacket!
This is a great workshop for people passionate about sustainability and looking for new ways to upcycle unwanted or unneeded textile items.

Tickets are $5.00 for those that need to use a Deadly Denim sewing machine. Limited free tickets are available for up to 5 people who bring their own sewing machine.

Deadly Denim:

Deadly Denim is a creative business founded by Rebecca Rickard a Ballardong, Whadjuk woman from the Nyungar nation living and working on country Perth WA. Her clothing pushes for sustainability in the fashion industry and showcases Indigenous art and designs. Some fabrics used are from Aboriginal Art Centres in WA and the Northern Territory, and others are individual artists Deadly Denim has collaborated with to create digitally printing designs.
