Deaf Science Art Festival
Event description
We warmly invite families, young people, members and allies of the Deaf community to Science Gallery Melbourne’s free Art Science Deaf Festival on Saturday 4th October, 2025. This event has been co-designed with members of the Deaf community including students and professionals, and will be an exciting day of exploration and learning at the University of Melbourne’s Science Gallery and Grainger Museum. The program will include:
Deaf-led tours of Science Gallery Melbourne's current exhibition, DISTRACTION
Grainger Museum Tour and Experience with Speak Percussion
Education Forum with leading professionals in Deaf education
Creative Arts Forum featuring Deaf artists and curators
Embracing the D/deaf/HoH perspective in the workplace - Careers Forum highlighting inspiring Deaf professionals
Drop-in STEM Workshops at our STEM Centre of Excellence for D/deaf/HoH and Hearing young people aged 10 yrs+
Cafe staffed by Deaf students of our partner schools
Auslan and Deaf interpreters will be available and families with children are encouraged to attend. Attendees can create their own program by selecting from all available sessions to tailor the day to their interests.
