Dealing with Tenancy Issues for People with Disability in Tasmania

Online Session No.2 of the Opening the Door Tasmania Disability & Housing Forum

This is a free online event for people with disability, their families, and carers, and others who are interested.

'Dealing with Tenancy Issues for People with Disability in Tasmania’ is a panel presentation and discussion on tenants’ rights in the Tasmania.

We will discuss tenancy issues for those in the private housing rental market, and public, social and affordable housing, as well as supported independent living houses. This includes how people can get assistance. Presenters to include representatives from community legal services.

'Dealing with Tenancy Issues for People with Disability in Tasmania’ is one of a series of sessions being delivered through the Opening the Door project for Tasmania. Other online sessions include a session on pathways to housing, and one on NDIS Home & Living Supports. Online sessions will be recorded to view after the events.

These will be followed by face-to-face workshops in Hobart and Launceston the week beginning 29th August.

More about the Opening the Door project

The Opening the Door project aims to support people with disability to achieve choice and control with their housing options through:

Developing and sharing online resources
Forums designed to both share information and gather experiences
Support existing and establish new peer networks.

The project is for all people with disability regardless of their type of disability or age, and whether they are a participant in the NDIS or not.
