Event description

Join us for a virtual event where we will be discussing dear elia: Letters from the Asian American Abyss. Written as a love letter to her daughter Elia, this book offers a revolutionary recognition that we are all "differentially unwell" and that this collective unwellness is not our fault. Khúc identifies what contributes to "unwellness" in the Asian American community and helps us envision what the world would look like if we prioritized wellness. The event will take place on Tue Jan 14 2025 at 5pm PST. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with other Asians/Asian Americans through the power of stories!

EVENT FAQ:

    Who is this group for?

    • This group is open to all those who identify as Asian & Asian American, ages 18+.

What type of book club vibes can I expect?

    • This book club will be more of a casual conversation about the book and how it can connect to our lives, rather than an in-depth literary discussion (though you're welcome to share your literary insights).

What will the event agenda involve?

    • For book discussion meetings, most of the meeting will involve breakout groups with instructions and questions provided by the facilitator. There will also be time for all attendees to converse together. For the author discussion, there will be an interview of the author and audience Q&A.

Can I join if I didn't finish the book?

    • Absolutely, but we do encourage you to read the book in its entirety for a richer conversation.

Do I have to attend both sessions of a book, i.e. the group discussion AND the author's discussion?

    • Nope-feel free to come to either session, or both!

    Does this event cost money?

    • This event is free!
