An educational session for health professionals based around the topic of Death and Dying in the Emergency Department and Acute Care setting.

Outcomes include:

Diagnose dying – be able to recognise patients who have a life-limiting illness and recognise the differing patterns of functional decline at the end of life.
Discuss dying – have an approach to discussing end of life issues and goals of care with patients and/or their caregivers
Dealing with dying – anticipate and prescribe appropriately for symptoms at end of life – both drug and non-drug therapies.

This program is suitable for ALL staff who work in the Emergency Care Setting. Particularly Medical Staff, RMO's/JMO's, Associateship in Emergency Medicine Candidates- Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced, Nurses, GPs, Career and Volunteer Paramedics, and Medical and Nursing Students

Places are limited and priority will be given to individuals who provide Emergency Care in the Limestone Coast Local Health Network.

This session will also be presented across all sites of the LCLHN throughout 2025.
