Event description

The holidays aren't easy for everyone. If you're missing someone, feeling disconnected from tradition, or carrying grief in any form, you're not alone—and this space is for you.

Death of the (Holiday) Party is a warm, queer-centered gathering where we'll explore grief, create new rituals, and build connection during a season that can feel isolating. Through gentle facilitation, creative activities, and honest conversation, we'll honor what's hard while finding comfort in community.

What We'll Do Together

  • Share reflections through journaling and small group discussion

  • Co-create "grief threads" using gold paper—linking our experiences into a collective symbol

  • Learn about grief rituals from diverse cultures and queer communities

  • Mingle over "Mortali-Tea" offerings and connect with others who get it

This is a low-pressure space. Share what feels comfortable. All forms of grief are welcome. Come as you are.

Facilitated by:
Hannah Yore, Mt. Sinai–trained palliative care doula
Melanie Wilson, creative grief and death educator at Life and Soul

Whatever your level of comfort with speaking about your grief, please join us. The intention of our events is to cultivate community and connections among folks of all walks of life who understand each other in a way that those who haven't experienced the death of someone close cannot. It is not a traditional support group, death cafe, or grief counseling. At the event, we can share grief resources for those looking for additional support.

If our ticket price is prohibitive to you, please send us an email at melanie@thelifeandsoul.co and we will do our best to accommodate a discounted ticket based on support from the community.
