Launch of Deb Mostert: Nature and Culture - animal as object & Highlighting the Collection – Wendy McGrath-Lakeland
Event description
Join us to celebrate two wonderful exhibition launches for Deb Mostert and Wendy McGrath-Lakeland.
Nature and Culture – animal as object
Based on years of observation and research within the bird and mammal collections at the Queensland Museum, this body of work seeks to explore the objectification of animals in nature through taxidermy, and in culture through the souvenir. We have, and are creating, facsimiles and profiting from these copies despite the real risk of losing the originals.
Highlighting the Collection – Wendy McGrath-Lakeland
A recent gift to the Sunshine Coast Art Collection, this collection of works represents Wendy McGrath-Lakeland’s multi-disciplinary practice of painting, photography, printmaking and site-specific installations, that speak to the experience of history and the embedded memory of landscape.
