Event description

The Decider Skills (12 skills) is a shorter version of the 32 skills course and uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to teach participants skills to recognise their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, allowing them to monitor and manage their own emotions and mental health. CBT and DBT have an impressive evidence base, proving they are effective with a range of different mental health challenges. The skills were designed to enable participants to make effective changes to help manage distress, regulate emotion, increase mindfulness, promote effective communication and help to live a more skilful, less impulsive life.

There are three x1.5 hr zoom sessions over Wednesdays 3.30pm to 5pm starting 10th Oct, the course is for teenagers

How We Do It

We have distilled complex psychological theory into highly effective, evidence based skills that are engaging and memorable. The Decider Skills are delivered in an original and fun style that makes them easy to learn and the demonstrations bring the skills to life.

Each skill has its own evidence base, client handout, visual and prop. Each skill is taught in a discuss-demonstrate-discuss format. 

The Decider LifeSkills course is designed to be a proactive mental health course, which contains 12 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) evidence based skills for individuals and groups to develop strategies to improve their wellbeing. 

Develop your personal skills for proactive mental health, allowing you to increase coping, confidence and communication skills, manage stress, regulate emotions, be more mindful and live a more skilful, less impulsive life.

The course is suitable for anyone who is interested in taking a proactive approach to their emotional wellbeing and lifestyle. It is also suitable for those waiting to have individual counselling skills & want to develop some skills to cope whilst on a waiting list. The course contains 12 of the same skills that are taught on the Decider 32 skills course but not in as much detail. Note: This course is not a therapy or a support group it is an educational course to learn strategies.
