Description

We need to build new, just and equitable worlds. Decolonial feminist knowledges, liberatory practices and ways of being can show us a way.

Register now for our Decolonial Feminist Scholarship, Activism and Praxis Across Borders, a two-day, online symposium grounded in collective learning, care, and solidarity.

We’re holding this event for decolonial, subaltern, Third World and other feminists-of-colour that are too often excluded from mainstream feminist dialogues. We’re gathering participants from across the Global South, Global North and diaspora.

If you are looking for a space where knowledge is not extracted, but shared, lived, and co-created — you’re invited. Join us in this timely space for celebration, dialogue, coalition-building and resistance. Come learn from scholars, community organisers, artists, storytellers and practitioners from over twenty countries.

What’s happening in this space?

Across two days, you can expect:

  • Conversation circles

  • Interactive workshops

  • Creative expression spaces

  • Embodied practices

  • Decolonial feminist Theory and method

We are curating things differently! Rather than divide into streams, all of us will be together for most of the event. The program can be viewed at this link.

Who is this for?

This space brings together those engaging with decolonial and critical feminist theory and praxis, including:

  • Academics and students

  • “Theoreticians-in-the-flesh” (those whose lived experience is central to their work)

  • Activists and organisers

  • Practitioners across community, NGO, and public service sectors

  • Artists, writers, and creatives

  • Anyone seeking decolonial feminist spaces grounded in Indigenous-diasporic frameworks

Why attend?

By participating, you will:

  • Engage core questions at the heart of decolonial feminist organising: How do we build solidarity across differences? How do we resist multiple, intersecting forms of oppression together?

  • Gain insights into international feminisms that model political/art/praxical forms of solidarities

  • Contribute to building a “coalition of coalitions” across decolonial feminist movements

  • Expand critical and liberatory consciousness through collective reflection and dialogue

  • Evolve feminist thinking and commitments to decolonial feminist futures

This event is supported by the Australian Women and Gender Studies Association of Australia in collaboration with Monash Liberatory Practices Collective and Loving Feminist Literature.
