Decolonizing Theater in Practice

We understand the basic structures and systems of colonization. So now what do we do?

Groundwater Arts’ new virtual workshop: Decolonizing Theatre in Practice builds upon knowledge created and shared in Decolonizing Theatre Basics. This workshop will be a generative space to discuss tactics and strategies of moving ourselves and our organizations towards decolonized practices while including passive activities, video, and discussions, to create radical access points for everyone of all levels to leave empowered. Prior attendance to Decolonizing Theatre Basics is not required, however a nuanced understanding of the structures of classic colonization, settler colonization, and neocolonialism is needed in order to participate meaningfully and understand fully.

This workshop was created with theatre makers and industry in mind - but we welcome anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of colonization today!
