Deepdish Choir (Pilot Season!)
Event description
*WE ARE AT CAPACITY/SOLD OUT* don't worry, hopefully that means this will be running again next year and you can join us next time! Stay tuned.
*UNLESS* You're a tenor/baritone/bass, in which case there are 1-2 tickets left! We have plenty of sopranos and altos, but select spots remain for the lower voice types, so send me a message/email if that's you and we can get you booked in!
This test drive pilot season of Deepdish Choir will run for six weeks, 2 hour sessions on Wednesdays evenings (7-9pm).
I'm going to be firm on capping the choir at around 20 people, so don't delay or you just might miss out! If you know anyone who might be keen, please direct them to this event page and encourage them to come along!
Dates are Wednesday 15th October - Wednesday 19th November, culminating in a very low stakes performance to friends and family in a joined Slapdash/Deepdish end of year concert on the evening of Monday 24th December, at the library with cups of tea etc etc.
We will tackle a small handful of songs over the term, polishing them up for a small performance. If all goes according to plan we can look forward to another term of Deepdish in 2026!
There will be sheet music and practice tracks available to help you get a handle on the songs/sing along in the car- with a strong caveat that you don't need to be able to read music to join (I myself am a pretty terrible music reader), but we will also have some time for crash course on music reading for choir dummies!
Given ther relatively short-term and the goal of performing what we learn, I'm setting the expectation that joining a term of Deepdish is somewhat of a committment to trying to attend most/all of the sessions (of course with things like illness and unexpected last minute things being completely fine!) This I suppose is one of the main points of difference between Slapdash and Deepdish, both choirs will be running at the same time in October/November, so you can choose what model works best for what you're looking for!
I'm also going to make a general rule (for those that are double keen for singing) that if you are coming to Deepdish you can also come along to Slapdash sessions for free!
If you've got questions, suggestions, or reservations please get in touch!

Long version (me just going off on some pun tangents):
From the oven that brought you Slapdash Choir comes something new, gooey, and extra cheesy… Deepdish Choir.
Slapdash has always been about the joy of casual, drop-in singing — a big, welcoming buffet where anyone can grab a plate and join in. But some voices started asking: “Can’t we go a bit deeper?” More harmony, more challenge, more commitment, maybe even a performance?
Enter Deepdish.
This new choir is for those who want to roll up their sleeves and really dig into the sauce: tasty, layered harmonies; songs that polish up week by week; and a sense of commitment to growing something together. Think of it as Slapdash’s sibling — still friendly, still open to anyone who wants to give it a go — but maybe a bit more challenge and a bit more buy-in for a final product that's richer and saucier!
You don’t need to be a pro, just keen to lean in a little further, practice when you can, and savour the process of blending your voice with others. I already have a few pieces arranged, with some sheet music and practice tracks available to help you to feel confident with the repertoire.
If you’ve ever thought “Slapdash is delicious, but I could handle a thicker slice” — Deepdish might be just what you’re hungry for.
