Delay 45 album launch at Eight O'Clock Sharp
Description
Delay 45 is led by trumpeter Tom Avgenicos, in close collaboration with pianist Roshan Kumarage, bassist Dave Quinn and drummer Ashley Stoneham. Individually agile and collectively unified, their performance style is characterised by short motifs, loops and songs that provide the platform for dynamic textural interplay, ostensibly within the style of a contemporary jazz quartet. With a friendship dating back to their high school years, Delay 45 performs with rare cohesion and sensitivity. The result is that the band's collective musical identity comes to the fore, a fine balance between precision and openness, where structure dissolves into spontaneity and familiarity gives way to exploration.
They have performed at many of Australia’s leading venues and festivals, including the Sydney Opera House, Phoenix Central Park, Melbourne Recital Centre, and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and internationally across Europe.
At Eight O'Clock Sharp, the quartet will present music from their latest album, I'll Go Where You Go.
