      Corporate finance experts from leading accounting firm William Buck will lead you through the fundamentals of financial modelling, examining revenue and cost drivers, cash flow management, analysis methods, forecasting and impact on valuations.

      You’ll have the chance to put your learnings into practice through an interactive session, before hearing exclusive industry insights into building successful financial models – unpacking common challenges, effective strategies for aligning forecasts with market shifts, and communicating financial health to stakeholders.

      INDUSTRY EXPERTS:

      Kim Smyth, General Manager, Investment, ANDHealth

      Kim is the GM of Investment for ANDHealth, where she leads the flagship ANDHealth+ program supporting digital health companies along the journey from early product through clinical and commercial validation, reimbursement and go-to-market strategy, and scale-up. Kim brings a global track record in digital health commercialisation, innovation strategy, and digital transformation to this role.

      She began her career with Braxton/ Deloitte in North America and Europe, before taking operational roles at an e-learning startup and The Body Shop, where she established the company’s first direct-to-consumer analytics and relationship management function. Kim came to healthcare in 2010 to design and deliver a novel, data-driven support program for cardiovascular patients. In 2015 she helped establish a CTO office in Silicon Valley for AstraZeneca, where she led an external innovation team that partnered with emerging technology vendors and startups to deliver more than a dozen proof-of-concept pilots, including the company's first fully virtual clinical trials. She has held local and global roles in strategy and digital innovation in the pharmaceutical industry and as an independent advisor to start-ups on go-to-market and partnering strategy.

      Kim is passionate about working with multi-disciplinary teams to bring healthcare innovation to market, and to promote Australian innovation to the world.

      Mark Ellis, Principal, Corporate Finance, William Buck

      Mark thrives off the adversarial nature of his job, constantly holding himself up to a high standard to avoid any potential weakness. With over 15 years of experience, he has equipped himself with a wealth of knowledge. His expertise is in producing expert reports in relation to valuations, loss and damage claims, investigations, and family law.

      Mark maintains the mantra ‘a yes man is no use to anybody’, welcoming respectful disagreement and conflict to facilitate better outcomes for his clients. With his clients, he is regarded highly for his advice and strives to offer the most optimal solutions and value.

      To Mark, success is about spending his time on what is important, doing a fulfilling job and spending free time improving himself and enjoying the company of friends and family.

      Dr Simon Graindorge, Chief Operating Officer, OncoRes Medical

      Simon is the Chief Operating Officer of OncoRes Medical. He has spent almost 25 years as an investor and operator in medical device and digital health companies in the UK and Australia. He has extensive experience as both an operating executive and board director investing in, building and growing start-ups, early stage and emerging growth companies based on early-stage, deep technology innovations across healthcare. 

      Before joining OncoRes as COO, Simon was an Operating Partner and Entrepreneur-in-Residence with IP Group Australia, and a Partner in the UK life sciences team at IP Group plc, leading investment strategy and portfolio in medtech and digital health/healthtech. 

      Over the last decade he has invested in and helped build companies like Tissue Regenix Group plc, Oxehealth, Creavo Medical Technologies, Intelligent Ultrasound Group plc, Ibex Innovations, Pancregenesis. Simon joined IP Group from Ceramex Ltd, a corporate spin-out of the Hexadex Group and was previously an Executive Director at Tissue Regenix Group plc. 

      Simon holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Western Australia, and Bachelor degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry.
