Departure Lounge: A Farewell to Sub Tropic

Sub Tropic is to close its doors soon and we invite you to join SCCA as we farewell this beloved space with a last hurrah!  

Launched in 2019, Sub Tropic Studio was a bold and much-needed initiative in the region. Over the years, it has hosted artists-in-residence, workshops, events, silent discos and been a creative co-working space and SCCA’s HQ. It has been a welcoming haven for artists, creative entrepreneurs and the arts-curious community who have all made memories in the retro-styled interiors of Banjo Beale.

This end-of-an-era event will celebrate the legacy of what can be achieved when the artistic community gets together to dream big and advocate for creative space for artists. 

Gather with the creative community, meet previous artists-in-residence and hear reflections from the founding advocates, SCCA President Phil Smith and Sunshine Coast Council Sector Development Lead, Megan Rowland. Enjoy live music by The Electric Apes and a new project preview by Kerbside Collective.

Let’s get together to raise a glass (or two) to the studio in the bus station one last time.
