Event description

Meet other adoptees and former or current orphans in this monthly call on the Third Thursday every month. The intention of this call is to weave belonging in community as adoptees thru spiritual connection to land, dreams, and creative process, in reconnection to our cultures of origin. The goal of this call is to pair adoptees with a global directory of spiritual healers from their cultures of origin. We are building that directory now.

If you register, you will get the recording.

Meet your facilitators:

Wilbliss is a disabled queer trans Korean adoptee on O’odham lands. They are a peer support counselor, an anti-carceral full circle birthworker, and learned to convey with art in the brutality of the Catholic orphanage when language was not shared. “I experienced the stirrings of reconnection healing during KADU candle lighting and letters to adoptees 3 years ago, and every year my heart feels better. I desire to build upon this by creating a space where all those who need reconnection may gather.”

HyeJin Kim is a trans non-binary sapphic Korean adoptee, currently based in South Africa. As a psychiatry survivor and autistic person they champion holistic spiritual and mental health practices. They have been a traditional and ancestral healer since 2011, being initiated in South Africa, and additionally became a Mudang - Korean shaman - after initiation by an elder later. Throughout their life they have been a facilitator, poet and writer, at times a performer, and an activist, having worked both in grassroots organising as well as larger established NGOs.

This community call is free for former and current orphaned people, to attend and participate in. It is funded by a grant and your donations.

Banner art is by Wilbliss Kim and archival quality large prints, smol prints and durable stickers are available for purchase as well as monthly memberships to sustain this work!
