DesignFreo On Location 11: Iwan Iwanoff's Tomich House
Event description
Party house to family home - reinventing an Iwanoff icon
We're thrilled to invite you to Tomich House for a very special DesignFreo On Location event. A City Beach landmark, Tomich House (completed 1971) was designed by renowned Western Australian architect Iwan Iwanoff (1919 - 1986), whose highly original style makes him one of Perth's most interesting and enduring architects.
Kyle Jeavons bought Tomich House in 2019 and engaged Fremantle-based interior designer Jen Lowe, of Ohlo Studio, alongside his brother, architect Mark Jeavons, a senior associate at Hassell, to bring it back from disrepair and create a family sanctuary. Over three years, Jen, colleague Josh Hills, and Mark, reworked unsympathetic additions and completely restored this iconic home, putting the focus back on the beauty of Iwanoff's architecture. Tour this unique house and listen as Kyle, Jen and Mark share its design story, including its previous life as a glitzy party house.
Landscape design by another stellar Fremantle design team, See Design Studio.
There will definitely only be one session for this special event so get in quick!
