Good exhibition design and construction are integral to how audiences engage and interact with objects on display in your museum or gallery.
Learn more in this webinar, led by Powerhouse Senior Exhibition Designer Hugh O’Connor and Powerhouse Workshop Construction Coordinator Penny Angrick.
Hugh and Penny will share simple tips to help in the process of designing and building small exhibitions and displays, from concept design to the final project. Drawing on their experience they will demonstrate examples of the Powerhouse production team’s creative design and production process.
They will discuss exhibition layout with a focus on lighting and how-to best display objects. They will also discuss working with different materials within restricted budgets and safety measures that need to be considered when designing and building an exhibition.
Hugh and Penny have worked collaboratively on many recent Powerhouse exhibitions.
Penny Angrick trained as a cabinetmaker, set builder and mount-maker. She has created and overseen the building of stage sets for theatres around the world. Prior to joining the Powerhouse she prepared object supports for the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, bringing with her over 20 years of construction experience.
This webinar is designed for staff and volunteers of smaller museum, the collecting sector and Regional tertiary students and teachers. A 30-minute presentation will be followed by a 15-minute Q+A session. Participants can pre-register their questions. The webinar is free, but booking is essential.
