Description

Designing for Circularity and Innovation brings together researchers and industry voices to explore new approaches to creating a more sustainable textile future.
The event features five themed talks exploring key aspects of textile circularity, including garment recycling pathways, design strategies for circularity, the implications of fibre loss from garments, the environmental degradation of fibres, and the challenges of balancing protective performance with circular design.

The program concludes with a panel discussion, providing an opportunity for speakers and participants to engage in dialogue, exchange perspectives and reflect on future directions for sustainable textile design and innovation.

Following the formal program, interested participants can tour the Institute for Frontier Materials’ research facilities, including the yarn spinning line, weaving facilities and OMMI textile recycling machine, offering a firsthand look at cutting-edge textile manufacturing and recycling technologies.

Please enter the campus via Entrance 2 (near the Epworth Hospital side). At the second roundabout, turn left, and the Na Building will be immediately on your right.

Parking: Deakin uses OPark for pay-as-you-go General (white bay) parking, currently $1.60 per hour or $6.40 per day; download the free OPark app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
