Designing for Green Infrastructure
Event description
Green infrastructure is a brilliant design tool, which can create some of the most engaging architectural outcomes and embed nature in our cities. Knowing how to design for green infrastructure is essential to its success and this Nature Insights Series will provide an overview of the key things to consider.
For this session, we’ve teamed up with Evergreen Infrastructure, a green infrastructure specialist to share some of their insights on how to effectively design for urban greening on structure, with a focus on green roofs.
We’ll discuss:
How to get green infrastructure in the brief – demonstrating its value for clients and the key benefits
A biodiversity approach to green infrastructure, exploring opportunities to create habitats for wildlife and connectivity via green roofs
An innovation approach to urban greening, via pilot projects and shared learnings.
Green infrastructure design considerations including spatial requirements, locations for greenery, soil depths, structural loading, access and maintenance
The role of green infrastructure specialists during design, installation and maintenance
This workshop is designed for architects, landscape architects, developers and builders, with a focus on the key elements to consider during design for green infrastructure.
We hope you’ll leave the workshop with the confidence to embrace green infrastructure on your projects, from creating the brief, navigating the design, liaising with nature experts, and exploring installation and maintenance approaches to ensure the project's success.
