    Event description

Please note: This workshop has moved to online delivery. Learn more about about how UTS is responding to COVID-19.

In our digitally connected world, practical skills in graphic design for multimedia are essential in a wide range of businesses and organisations. The aim of this workshop is to introduce some of the industry based Adobe software programs commonly used in graphic design and social media.

With a focus on story-telling, the workshop aims to develop skills in design allowing you to develop strategies to communicate concepts and branding for design solutions.

Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard software used to create “vector” designs and layouts. With Illustrator we typically create our projects from scratch.

    • Learn the basic tools and layout of the program.
    • Create and transform some basic shapes.
    • Adjust the colours of your design.
    • Learn how to “trace” an existing pixel based image and convert it to a vector image.
    • Explore the use of text in design.
    • Learn how to create a 3D image.
    • Learn how to save an image for screen creating suitable formats for mobile phones, tablets, monitors and social media.
    • Learn how to save an image for various print outputs.

By the end of this session you will have created a business card and promotional postcard reflecting the branding of a suggested startup, business or university club.

(We suggest you bring some digital images of existing logos to use for the brief)
