Meet our CEO and help design our future

As a valued part of our Consumers Connect community, we would love to collaborate with you to shape the future of Health Issues Centre.

“Hi, I’m Alison, the new CEO of Health Issues Centre. Since starting in December, I have hit the ground running and we are actively working to define our priorities for 2023 and beyond. Since our organisation was founded almost 40 years ago, consumer engagement has been at the heart of who we are and what we do. It is essential that our priorities are informed by the voices of lived experience and I am very keen to meet you to make that a reality. I know many of you have been on this journey with us for many years, some of you for decades, and there are some new faces too. I hope to meet you at one of our ‘Designing our future’ sessions in February.”

Designing our future workshops

Consumers are invited to register to participate in a Designing our future workshop in February 2023. We are offering the workshop via Zoom on three different days to enable you to find an option that works best for you. In the workshops, you will have a chance for a Q&A with our CEO and to engage in a discussion about what we do well, what we could do better and to share your vision for consumer engagement in health. Alison will be facilitating each of the workshops.

We will be consulting with other key stakeholders including staff involved in consumer engagement at a later date.

Accessibility and format

The workshops will take place on Zoom. Closed captions will be enabled. There will be a scheduled break during the workshop, but participants are welcome to take breaks as needed. Depending on numbers, we may use breakout rooms to facilitate smaller discussions. Participants are welcome to contribute verbally and/or via the chat function, whatever suits your communication preferences.

Slides can be sent ahead of time for those that use a screen reader – please email us at info@hic.org.au if you need a copy. Sessions will not be recorded but de-identified notes of the discussion will be taken. Please let us know if there are any other measures, we can put in place to enable your full participation in the workshop during the registration process. Please note this is an unpaid engagement opportunity.
