Designing out Carbon Working Group Launch
Event description
MECLA is launching a new working group focused on the role of design in delivering low carbon assets in construction. The working group will be established to focus on this topic and deliver a series of guides that can be read as stand-alone guidance on design approaches for different parts of the building and different building typologies.
The work to create the guidance will be executed under a series of subgroups to the working group, each dedicated to a specific area of focus. The current key areas of focus are 'general', 'facade', 'structure', and 'interiors'. There will also be a basic, regular working group meeting that includes presentations for those who do not want to contribute to the development of the guidance, but would like to stay informed on the topic of design and embodied carbon.
In the conception meeting, MECLA members will come together to hear from the Chair Jeff Morgan, Principal at Hassell, on the vision for the working group. It will also be an opportunity for MECLA to receive feedback on the scope and better understand who within the network wants to contribute.
To receive the link to attend, please complete the registration process, which includes several questions that will help inform who and how MECLA members are included in the working group going forward.
