Join us to learn practical strategies for safer, more vibrant shopfronts and main streets

This interactive workshop introduces Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and placemaking principles tailored for retail, hospitality, and business operators. You’ll explore simple, place-based strategies to improve safety, street appeal, and customer experience.

Through case studies, group activities, and local examples, the workshop blends practical learning with hands-on activities to give you ideas that can be applied immediately to your shopfront, business, or retail precinct.

Participants will leave with greater awareness, practical tools, and an action list tailored to their local business context, helping to create streets and shopfronts that are safe, welcoming, and commercially successful.

Through presentations, hands-on brainstorming activities and group discussion you will:

  • Get familiarised with regenerative placemaking and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

  • Strategies for safer, vibrant main streets including social and physical aspects of the place

  • Opportunities to integrate safety into day-to-day business management.
