Designing Smarter Water Monitoring: Requirements for Robotic Sampling
Description
The IWN Contaminants of Concern program have commenced a project with LaTrobe University to develop a robotic sampler for water bodies. Our ultimate aim is to develop AI enabled drone boats that sample, analyse and dose, mitigating point sources of algae blooms and identifying water quality issues.
We are holding a requirements session on 14 Sept 1pm-3pm to help shape the project (teams link below). The session will explore questions such as:
• Where are current water monitoring and sampling approaches difficult, costly, unsafe or time-consuming?
• What types of sites and operational scenarios could benefit from a robotic monitoring platform?
• What water quality parameters and sampling capabilities are most important?
• What would field staff need from the system for it to be practical and easy to use?
• What safety, data, communications and systems-integration requirements need to be considered?
• Where could autonomous or repeatable monitoring provide the greatest operational value?
We’d be grateful if you could join the workshop as we very much value your input to develop this technology. Thanks!
