Developing an Inclusive Organisation in the VCSE Sector

This FREE training is funded by Staffordshire County Council. To access this course you must be a Staffordshire resident (not including Stoke on Trent) aged 19+.
Are you working or volunteering in a VCSE organisation, or considering doing this? Are you interested in developing or consolidating your knowledge of how to remove barriers to individuals participating in your activities and services? Then this is the course for you!
Aimed at anyone working in the VCSE sector, or anyone considering doing so.
Delivered over 4 sessions (all must be attended) each session focusses upon a different experience (mental ill-health, neurodiversity, racism, LGBTQIA+) and covers the following points:
- Explain the difficulties associated with neurodiversity
- Analyse the impact of those difficulties
- Explore how to remove barriers to neurodiverse individuals participating in activities and support
- Define what it means to be ‘anti-racist’ both as an individual and as an organisation
- Explore some ways of working with, and understanding, adults of other beliefs
- Describe how an organisation can be supportive of LGBTQIA+ individuals
- Investigate the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals
- Explain how to support someone who is struggling
- Explore some wellbeing tools and practices
- Identify opportunities to signpost to help
By the end of the course, we envisage learners will have reviewed the policies and procedures related to accessibility and inclusion within their organisation, with the assistance of Support Staffordshire staff.
