Developing your 5-year research plan -- follow-up session
Event description
Delivered by Professor Andrew Barron (Deputy Head of the Department of Biological Sciences at Macquarie University) and UTS colleagues, this session is a follow-on from the 'Developing your 5-year research plan' that ran in April this year.
The April 'Developing your 5-year research plan' session was designed to provide you with tools to help you to identify your 5-year goals and how to get there. In the April session, Andrew presented strategies that worked for him in developing a 5-year research plan. He highlighted the importance of developing this plan and the benefits that can accrue through investing time in this process. Andrew presented three exercises you were able to complete in your own time to assist you in developing your own plan. You can view the recording of Andrews 'Developing your 5-year research plan' session, here.
Now - 6 months on, and with a persistent global pandemic hanging over us - this follow-on session will provide an opportunity to collectively reflect on your research plans.
In this session Andrew will provide his thoughts and advice on planning in uncertain times and adapting a research plan to change, followed by a general and informal reflection around research planning over the 6 months. This discussion will focus on sharing of experiences, tips and tricks, and will be initiated by UTS colleagues who attended Andrews session in April.*
Then, we will have 2, 1-hour activity sessions on the 12th November and 19th November where you will be able to collaboratively discuss, swap ideas and give feedback on each other's research plans. Feel free to sign-up for one or the other of these sessions (or both, if you wish).
*please note - this session will be recorded.
