Description
DFPM is pleased to invite you to our long awaited launch party!
Part crew, part label, part LARP, Dark Future Picnic Music is a Canberra-based concept art project led by a multi-disciplinary collective of DJs, musicians, designers, engineers, educators, data analysts, and visual artists. This project is driven by a single question:
How can rave culture bring community, resilience, and romance to a world beset by socioeconomic injustice, geopolitical turmoil, and a rapidly changing climate?
This event is an invitation to take part in our first step towards answering this question. More than a launch or party, it is an invitation to face this reality and build hope from dystopia.
Join us on a six-hour musical journey into a dark future where the sounds of dub, dubby house, dub techno, dubstep, and steppers became the means for a culture of resistance.
Because no matter how dark the future, together we can organise a righteous picnic full of love, light, and lasers.
The Crew & Lineup [A/Z]
cspo aka The Fixer _ militant dubstep & megaphone operator
IMBIBE _ dubby prog & shamanic therapies

Low Flung _ ambient soundscapes & visual composer
Lumo _ deep dub/step & gear librarian

The Sound
We are fortunate to be supported by two locally-built sound systems:
The main room will be blessed by the legendary Communi-Fi Sound System. This is an absolute, unmissable treat. We are excited for the chance to be bathed in its mighty bass. It will be crisp. It will be loud. Bring earplugs for the best experience.
The rooftop area will be nurtured by the Gentle Giant Sound System, built by the equally legendary One Oscillator. Enjoy brief moments of respite from the dancefloor with the sounds of nature. Perfect for a midnight picnic.
The Theme
This event is set in the near future. Help us make it immersive.
Dress for an era of clandestine movements, autonomous zones, and continuous uprisings where music became a form of resistance.
The suggested dress code is 'Tactical Future Rave'. Black with flourishes of white and neon are preferred. Crews in matching outfits are encouraged.
We will have a token of appreciation for those that understand the assignment.
The Venue
The DFPM Launch Party will take place at the Blank Cultural Platform, an awesome space located on Level 2 of 131 City Walk (above King O'Malleys). Entry to the event will be via Mort St.
The crew acknowledges that our event will be held on Ngunnawal/Ngambri land that was never ceded. Respect the space and its custodians.
The Rules
This event is governed by the rules of Peace, Love, Unity, Respect, and Personal Responsibility. Make friends, not a mess. Take care of yourself and others. Don't be a dick. No harrassment or discrimination will be tolerated.
