Dhamma Dance

Dhamma Dance weaves together authentic movement and meditation, blending Eastern philosophies with Western dance therapy.

Over three weeks, this course aims to enhance your ability to cultivate kindness, find stability in uncertain times, and foster a sense of calm and ease in daily life.

Course details

Each week explores a different theme inspired by the Buddha's teachings and is divided into movement and stillness practices.

Authentic movement enables you to tune into your body's natural, intuitive impulse to move and allows you to enquire into your deeper, embodied wisdom through individual and group exploration.

Guided sitting meditation practice deepens your practice of listening, observing, and connecting with your moment-by-moment experience of life.

The two polarities of moving and sitting meditation together mirror the dance of life and support cultivation of well-being and balance.

Facilitator:

Sandi Middleton is the founder of Dhamma Dance and has over 24 years’ experience in Buddhist meditation, movement and mindfulness.

She has trained as a Buddhist nun, is a certified Dance Movement Therapist, is currently studying Mindfulness and Compassion Teacher Training and is an authorised teacher of traditional West African Ghanaian dance.

Who Can Participate? Everyone is welcome!

This is not a dance class and no coordination, prior dance experience or knowledge of the Dhamma is required. Just bring an open, curious mind and a willingness to explore.

Gentle movement warm-up to music
Facilitated authentic movement practices
Guided meditations inspired by Dhamma themes
Creative reflection and integration period

Attire: Comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement and a comfy cushion to sit on.

Date: Saturday 6th, 13th & 20th April

Time: 10.00 - 11.30am

Location: The workshop will be held at a beautiful and private outdoor/indoor venue overlooking Wollumbin mountain and lush, nature-filled vistas.

Course Cost: $60 (Normally $90, the first session of the course is gifted for FREE)

Feedback: A short 3-min feedback section will be integrated into the end of each session to allow for continuous feedback and improvement of the Dhamma Dance offering
