DIA Online Connect: How to Write DESIGNER in the Census

The Australian Census, on 11 August 2026, is the first to use the Australian Bureau of Statistics' new occupation classification, giving design its own dedicated group: Minor Group 242 – Design Professionals.

What you write on Census Night will help establish the first national baseline of Australia's design workforce.
Make sure your contribution to Australia’s design workforce is properly counted. Join us on the morning of the Census, for a practical 30-minute session on how to correctly complete the two questions that matter on your Census Personal Form: your occupation and your main tasks.

What we'll cover:

• Why the 2026 Census matters for Australia's design profession

• How to write your occupation and main tasks

• Guidance for senior leaders, founders and in-house designers

• How to find your recognised design occupation

• Common mistakes to avoid

• Live Q&A

This session will be delivered by Google Meet. Register now and reserve your spot.
